TURKISH EMPLOYMENT ORGANISATION (İŞKUR) OFFICES ARE BEING MODERNIZED

Within the scope of the EU - Active Labour Market Strategy Programme (ALMS), the offices of the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) are being modernized.

First “New İŞKUR Model Office Opening Ceremony” have been realized in Kayseri , on 7 th Ocotber 2005.

The “Ribbon Cutting” have been done by Mr . Olli R EHN - Enlargement Commissioner, Mr. Hansjoerg KRETSCHMER –Head of Delegation, ECD Turkey, Mr. Murat BASEGİOGLU-Minister of MoLSS, Kayseri Deputies to Grand national Assembly, Kayseri Governor in Charge Mr. Tevfik KARABALIK, Businessmen Associations, social partners, Kayseri people have participated in the Ceremony "

Speeches made at the ceremony

-LABOR AND SOCIAL SECURITY MINISTER BAŞESGİOĞLU:
''TURKEY IS NOW IN A PHASE IN WHICH THERE ARE MANY PROJECTS WITH EU IN A LARGE SPECTRUM AND WE WISH THESE PROJECTS TO BE CONTINUED''

-EU COMMISSIONER ON ENLARGEMENT OLLI REHN:
''THE AIM OF ASSISTANCE GIVEN TO TURKEY IS TO CONTRIBUTE THE REFORM PROCESS TO GO FURTHER''


Kayseri Provinc ial Directorate Building of Turkey Employment Organization (ISKUR) which had been modernized through our project began service. In his speech at the opening ceremony Minister of Labor and Social Security Mr. Murat Başesgioglu stated that Actice Laborforce Programmes Project with the budget of 50 million Euro had been put into practice with EU. He stated, ''The only purpose of these efforts in our country is to reduce unemployment to a considerable level and to increase employment. Turkey is now in a phase in which there are many projects with EU in a large spectrum and we wish these projects to be continued.''

-SPEECH OF COMMISSIONER REHN-

EU Commissioner on Enlargement Ollie Rehn stated that their visit to Kayseri short ofter October 3rd, proved and underlined how serious they were on the issue of improvement. Rehn also said Turkey and EU should cooperate in this period in order to carry the process further. Rehn stated his belief that this modernized building would contribute to give more employment services and to assist the fight against unempoyment in Kayseri. Rehn continued as follows: ''We know that unemployment is one of the major issues Turkey has to come over. There are some issues waiting for solution. One of them is
the low contribution of women to laborforce, another issue is the division between urban and rural areas. All these issues had to be dealt with during accession negotiations.''
Rehn, who mentioned monetary assistance to Turkey covers many different subjects continued his speech as follows: ''The aim of assistance given to Turkey is to contribute the reform process to go further. The main aim is to increase the economic development level in Turkey. When this building completely fulfills its services, it will have important contribution to solve unemployment problem in Kayseri on regional base. I wish success both in terms of continuing economic reforms and decreasing the level of unemployment.'' After the speeches, Başesgioğlu and Rehn together cut the ribbon and building came into service.
